Boundary Bay Wrap Workshop

This original Spout design is a luxurious big rectangle that can be styled in many ways. Wear it as a large lightweight scarf or shoulder wrap. It has stretch, texture, geometric stitch motifs, blocks of color, and a big wavy edge.
What's in the Boundary Bay wrap? Lots of garter stitch, a big cable worked several times, picking up stitches along the edge of garter stitch fabric, and knitting long rows in a variety of stitch motifs that are both written and charted and use only the knit and purl stitch. This project is suitable for anyone very comfortable with knit and purl stitches.
In the workshop, you will knit a garter stitch swatch and then practice the big cable and the picking up stitches techniques on this swatch. You will also get specific instructions for each step of the pattern, from the designer herself. Ruth has lots of helpful tips to share! Think of the workshop as preparation for the success of your entire project. She will also share finishing and blocking advice, along with creative ideas for using the techniques and pattern to make your own customized scarf or shawl.
About yarn selection: The beginning of the workshop will include color selection help. There is no need to choose all your yarns beforehand. If you want to make the wrap without the mohair in it, there are ways to do that too.
The swatch we make in the workshop can be with any fingering wool you have in your stash. Purchase the yarns for Boundary Bay at the end of day 1 of the workshop and go home ready to begin!
Bring your in-progress (or finished!) wraps back for session number 2. You will have the opportunity to show off your progress and ask Ruth any questions that have come up while working on your piece. Ruth will also be bringing samples of a couple of her other shawl patterns so you can check them out and get advice about your next project!
